The foundation stone of Nainital Raj Bhawan was laid on 27th April 1897 and the construction took two years to complete. It is built on European pattern and based on Gothic Architecture. The designers of Raj Bhawan (Nainital) were Architect Stevens and the Executive Engineer FOW Ortel.
 
Raj Bhawan or Governor House is located at Tallital area 3 km from Mall Road of Nainital city.
 
Raj Bhawan, also called as Governor House is a British era building, now serves as the residence of Governor of Uttarakhand. Known for its magnificent looks and old age charming architecture, Raj Bhawan in Nainital previously served as summer residence of British Governors. Architect of Governor House or Raj Bhawan was F.W.Stevens who came from Bombay with Engineer F.O.Oertel and H.S.Wildeblood. Raj Bhawan was constructed between the period of 1897 to 1900. Now a splendid garden, Golf course, Swimming Poll and lush green vast area of Deodar and Oak tress increases the attractiveness of Raj Bhawan.
